TTOP posting @ ward 44 part 1

im back to KKH ward 44 for the final posting!

anyway, i was quite happy over the weekend as i thought that the 'mama koh' whom the staff nurse told me on saturday when i went to get the roster was the dear lydia sum look-alike sister koh. but apparently there are 2 koh's in ward 44! -_-. anyway, the real mama koh is also very motherly. i like:) oh anyway... these few days 又给 sister koh 摸了几下-_-.

oh i finally did urinary catheterization! and i realised that OSCE did really help as i was quite familiar with what i need to prepare and do.

left SGH ED with a tinge of sadness because i only managed to see the favourite doctor's side view for one second before leaving. HAHA!

anyway... i failed my wound dressing for osce! argh! i passed something that i have never done before in clinicals but failed something that i have always been doing during attachments. curse the S4A lab for providing lousy dressing sets for our practice.

i heard the thunder, and not long after that, i was performing cpr. please try not to go out on rainy days.

6 of us did our first CPR on a real person yesterday. but we did last office for the patient as well..

besides doing the compression and the counting, at that moment, it was really totally concentrating on saving the patient. i guess yesterday was the first time in the past 3 years that i really experienced the feeling of being a nurse. 25/03/09.

ED is not that bad afterall:). but i guess with my tortoise speed, i will find myself out of job very soon if i work in ED.:(

anyway, sighs. after the community and ED posting, i really feel that im the 害群之马. :(

and, argh. im mixing up my hokkien with my super broken cantonese. im confused with what im saying, and im confusing the patient as well.

im leaving SGH in 2 days' time!:(:(:(

i really have poor memory! today, i saw one of the patients from my HCA community posting. I couldnt recognise him initially, but i found his wife really familiar, and i guess his wife found me familiar too because she kept looking at me. but i think she cant recognise me too because of the mask. in the end i didnt realise that he was the HCA patient until i thought of it when i was on my way home.

anyway, was quite busy at the triage area today.

anyway!! i find ED doctors quite good looking! LOL. i think it's probably because i can only see their hair and eyes since we're all in our masks. hahah.

feels great to be back at SGH:) 可是觉得有一点跟不上ED的脚步.

sighs. i have this depressed feeling lingering in me since last saturday, which I'm not really sure what exactly is causing it.

sigh. i really cant wait for the three months break. i cant wait to eat 豪大大鸡排 again this june!

Community posting part 2

i am thinking whether i will grow to become a nurse like my HCA preceptor because i think we're similar in some ways
- becomes disoriented when things pile up
- sometimes will talk in disorganized way
- do things slowly
- like to 傻笑
- pants when talking and walking at the same time
- auntyish

oh and i must mention this! she looks like mdm cheng mui kiang from tms! omg. 90% resemblance. i couldnt resist myself to ask her whether she has a sister. hahah!

Community posting part 1

i didnt expect that the home visit last thursday was the first and last time i see tt old lady. she did leave a deep impression on me. she was a strong, knowledgeable and religious lady. she had a caring husband, supportive children, and obedient grandchildren. She accepted her illness, and even though she was so weak that she felt tired even after talking a few sentences, she would still make an effort to meditate. it was a shame tt i couldnt share my views with her although we belong to the same religion.

this led me to think, we always remind ourselves to treasure our loved ones. but how many of us actually tell our parents how much we love them? as far as i can rmb, i have never told my father and mother tt i love them (despite all the quarrels，顶嘴 和 没大没小的行为). i have never told my grandmother tt i love her too. 难道真的要等到人走了才懂得珍惜吗? oh well it's useless saying all this, because i know i still wont have the courage to tell them how much i love them.

oh anw i think my preceptor's a little irritated by my poor memory and deafness. hahah.

anw, why is my favourite and "favourite" tutor not involved? LOL.

i disgraced nus nursing today. sigh. my physical examination TOTALLY SUCKS. what's more, i couldnt recognise the central venous line on one patient because it looked different from what i have seen previously.

sigh. sleeping 4 hours everyday is really draining. i was so bloody tired that i dozed off in the car even though the journey was only 15 mins.

anw, a friend of mine told me that i have a bad temper. she is the first person (other than my mother) to tell me that i have a bad temper. took quite a while thinking about the times tt i show my temper and i finally convinced myself that i really have a bad temper.

well... only true friends will tell you your bad points. I'm glad to have found one:)

anw, im quite bothered by my selfishness.... help me! sighs.

next wk is the last wk in school! omg.
