NUR1101 proj meeting

NUR1101 Patient Education Project Meeting

Went to Audrey's hse again for Patient education proj meeting. Saw Evon again and kept laughing throughout the meeting.. alwayz v tired after meeting her one. haha

Had a lame but quite special idea (thanks to Evon) for our presentation.. will only be doing it during our next meeting on Hari Raya. realli hope it will work.. haha

was looking for pictures for the diabetes section..

Me: " hey 找 diabetes 的 picture 了吗?"
Audrey: " 找了.. but 找不到 leh.."
Me: "　找 urine with ants lah.."
Audrey: " 我刚才也是这样想! "
*laughs hysterically but din find in the end*
After some time..
Me: " eh　找到diabetes的picture了吗?"
Evon: "haven leh. 我们现在找啦"
Me: " Urine with ants??"
*Started searching but couldnt find*
Evon: " Use ants in urine.."
and Evon started searching but couldnt find..
Evon: " Use pool of urine with ants.."
and Evon started searching.. but couldnt find..
Evon: " Use ants swimming in a pool of urine.."
still couldnt find..
Me: " we find ants den draw in the urine ourselves la."
and i started searching for ants but it din work.
Evon: "哎呀自己画 ants in urine 啦!"
and she ask me to open "Paint" and started drawing..
but we din use the one she drawed cos it was somewhat, ugly. haha.
in the end searched for photos of gangrenes and used it..

worked on the proj for 10 hr plus! 3 of us were v shagged and started to behave unusually at arnd 7plus.. haha. i started playing the old songs in my laptop (潇洒走一回 etc) and audrey started singing.. hahaha.　

Audrey drove us home after tt.. think it's quite cool to have ur fren driving u.. haha

In the Ward- 20/10/06

20/10/06- 4th day in Ward 5B

today was ok.. juz tt i was v shagged. hair v messy, "brain dead" etc..

our ward became the hot ward for VRE and we had to be on contact precaution.. quite 麻烦 cos need to wear new gloves and apron before attending to the patients and need to wash hands after attending to any patients instead of using the hand rub..
the nursing manager was in the ward today too.. she gave me the idea tt nursing should include one more module.. environment study or sth.. 被她讲 for using gloves and apron unnecessarily.. about the gloves and apron which cant be recycled, leading to black hole in ozone layer, global warming etc.. which will eventually affect our children and grandchildren yada yada~~
bt i think she's somehow right lah.. cos i din really think b4 using the gloves and apron.. haiz. stupiid me.

on the whole i did assisted bathing, changed quite a number of diapers and finally served bedpan today.. yea think tt's all? cos the number of nurses were more than the number of patients today... and i was assigned to a cubicle with only 3 patients..
observed the NYP nurse Qu Miao (yay i rmb her name!) gave ventolin for some patients, another NYP nurse change dressing for a patient, and Mary and Joanna attending to a patient with a bed sore..
oh think today a patient in our ward went for doppler scan or sth but din have chance to tag along cos i was bz.. wasted.
oh me and yiwen changed diapers for a female patient but we were quite messy.. haiz. felt v 对不起 to the patient cos we kept turning her.. haiz. muz try to improve on this.

Mary taught us how to use the dinamap today.. the machine quite cool. bt seems tt the one we used was spoilt cos my bp was 132/83! and the dinamap cant even measure Shu xian's bp initally.. haha.

laughing therapy

i have discovered y i'm always so tired when i reach home everyday..

imagine urself laughing as u walk along the route from S4A skills lab to the medical library, from medical library to NUH, and still laughing as u cross the overhead bridge and as u wait for the bus at the bus stop, u're still laughing.. tt's nt the end. u will still be laughing on the bus until u reach Harbourfront MRT and bid goodbye to Oh(!) Evon. it's really tiring bt seriously, i really enjoy this kind of daily 'laughing therapy'.. Dun ask me what are we laughing about. it's confidential. haha.

oh and when i'm at home, sometimes i find myself laughing suddenly. no i'm nt crazyy. it's just tt the joke juz suddenly pop up in my head.. or when i hear hungry pangs frm my stomach.. hahaha

bt think i'm really gonna miss this kind of laughing session after sch everyday when Evon moves house in Dec. sob~

I'm juz gonna be sad about my physio results for another 5 more mins.

Actually im quite used to this alr. since sec sch, the first CA is always horrible, and it is the horrible results tt stimulate me to mug hard for the next one. So, good. Stimulation is here again for me to mug harder for the exams in late Nov. Luckily this CA only constitutes 15%.. =) =)
These few days have been craving to go K.. bt think juz gonna 忍 until exams are over.. thinking of gg midnight kbox.. nv try b4.. anyone?
加油 everyone! let's mug hard for the exams! =) =)

In the Ward- 13/10/06

13/10/06- 3rd day in Ward 5B

Friday the 13th.. 邪门?
First thing in the morn i met yingbei at the mrt platform and she told me she cant find her name tag and hair pin.. we reached the MRT control station and Amy and Daniel came.. Yingbei went TTSH first cos she need to buy hair pin.. Amy was complaining of stomachache so we left for TTSH too after Wendy reached..
3 fellow clazmates were late.. so we went up to the wards first.. After the passing of the report, Daniel was saying he's feeling dizzy and his face was really pale.. he went home after tt, and me and yiwen continued with our work in Ward 5B.. i was instructed to follow the SN to assist in bathing a male patient.. while in the bathroom, a patient in my cubicle (as in ward cubicle, not the toilet cubicle) collapsed and passed away.. this is the first collapse case i have ever came across since my first day in TTSH.. i was really shocked when i heard tt he collapsed cos i had just woke him up and served him breakfast in the morning.. hai~
after tt me and Yiwen went to Ward 8B during our break to find Evon, YingBei and Emily.. we went into one of the cubicles and saw Emily standing in front of the patient, looking realli pale. Emily was saying tt she is feeling v dizzy.. we helped her to the geri-chair and after tt one of the SN helped her to the tea-room to rest.. yiwen and i went to kopitiam to 打包 food for Emily and we went up to the tea room to have lunch with her..
After break, things started to get a little better.. nothing serious happened.. except tt i felt abit nauseous when i was holding the plastic bag for a patient to vomit..

juz to summarize what i did today.. served diet, bed-making, assisted shower, took temp for some of the female patients, tidied and cleaned the wards, did the inpatient nursing assessmment record with the help of a NYP year 2. oh and i passed my handwashing!

oh actually we went TTSH on Wednesday to check on the patients too.. i had my dinner at the kopitiam coz i have tuition at night.. the seafood hor fun was horrible. the fish had 鱼腥味 and the sotong was super rubbery. the gravy of the hor fun is suppose to be of honey consistency but it was of nectar consistency.. on the whole, i would give 2 out of 5 for this hor fun.
on the other hand, the 板面 and 幼面 were nice! can compete with Ubi JTC one. haha. 4 out of 5 for both. =) =)

oh.. i went to cut my hair on tuesday.. but nobody actualli noticed tt i cut my hair! arghh. and my hair turned curly le.. =( =( =( *regret*

Hope everyone can 好好照顾自己! 天气很不好 and 空气 is really horrible.. and the norovirus gastroenteritis is quite common nowadays rite.. 生病的朋友希望你们快快好起来! 没生病的朋友，take care!

飞儿乐团　新加坡签唱会 07/10/2006

won 2 tix to FIR autograph session from 933! haha. yesterday went mediacorp to collect my tix, hoping to see some artiste if possible but din =(

went to the concert with Joanne. initially thought the tix i won were special and few people are able to get it. but i was wrong. the queue for the ticket holders was super long la. ticket holders were supposed to queue behind LJS, and we were being led up to top of the 8 by 见不得人的 path. hahaha. the staircase which i think many people din know it existed.

i realised everytime after i go for a 签唱会 or 音乐会, i will start to like tt 歌手. now i really like FIR! they're super good! 阿沁 is sooo shuai! =) =) actually was quite shocked when i saw him. looks quite different from the photos.

they sang quite alot of songs and all were nice. i like 天天夜夜 and it shall be my fave song of the mth! =) =)oh.. Faye's 现场唱功 improved alot!! 偶像! =)=) haha． we heard one girl keep shouting "建宁老师　建宁老师!" we tot　建宁老师是比较少人支持的. 想不到 got people so 支持 him.. but it's a fact tt all of them are v talented. yep. esp 阿沁! i din know tt 遗失的美好 was composed by him! and love story, beautiful love were all composed by him too! =) =)

迷路兵 was there too. they sang 3 songs.. and Sam was blocked by the drumset so there were pple shouting "看不到 Sam !". but seems tt nothing was done. still cant see him.

the host for the 签唱会 was 灵芝! think she is getting prettier! =) =)

took some photos and videos but cant post yet cos cable not with me..

went for dinner with Joanne after tt and we were 八卦-ing.. haha. super funny. Thanks Joanne for accompanying me! =) =)

still 忍不住 to 大笑 everytime i 想起 wad evon told me on thurs.. hahaha.

argh so angry with myself! slept like a pig yest nite at 8pm and missed the 中秋节 celebration with my younger sis! every year we will go to the amphitheatre below our block to 提灯笼 and play with the candles and sparklers de.. v childish rite but tt's me la. haha. arghhh so angry! 一年一次 and i wasted this year! =( =(

anw, went for chai sean's wedding in the aftn.. chai sean is soo pretty!!! 真得很漂亮！looked at her photo album... they looked so 幸福 la.. me and evon suddenly had an urge to 嫁人. hahaha. and in one of the photos chai sean wore her nurse uniform and her husband wore his uniform (dunnoe wad uniform is tt. haha. evon say is airforce)　好羡慕哦.. evon and i were saying next time we also wanna wear our nurse uniform. think it's super cool. =) =)

took some photos with the 漂亮新娘. but cam cable not with me. cant post yet..

oh there's also karaoke system in the function room.. and we had sort of like a mini karaoke session today. haha. i was 低调 today. haha. cos eating the food. evon was super funny. think she can be promoter. keep saying the mee goreng was super nice.

there's a super duper cute baby and 2 little boys there too. wanted to take photo with the little boys but they seems scared of me.. =( how can i work in paediatrics next time? wanted to take photo with the baby but the ah ma 抱 the baby away after i help Shuxian and Liping take photo with the baby..

went up to chai sean's hse and have more urge to 嫁人. chai sean is so 幸福. haha. her hse is super nice can. got a 仙境 lookalike little corner beside the fish tank..haha

oh and b4 we left, we saw an uncle who is an actor. cool. think is chai sean's father-in-law? not sure too.

wish chai sean a happy marriage!! =) =)

In the Ward- 06/10/06

06/10/06- 2nd day in Ward 5B
on the whole, i think it was ok. at least better than 1st day in the ward.. took manual bp for one of the patient, did SMU (safe measure urine. haha), served diet, cleaned the uriner using the machine, accompanied a patient to the oesophalangenoscopy.. hmm but other than those, most of the time i keep walking around the cubicle, keeping the ward clean and tidy..

oh.. also observed the trachi.. (dunno how to spell tt), Johari tot me the conscious level chart, listened to the report taking and took down the diagnosis of the patient.. the report taking was abit fast.. most of the time i was lost and had to look at the NYP nurse's one.. oh Joanna taught us how to off IV and yiwen got to try.. had handwashing assessment and i sorta failed =(. cos Joanna poured some paint on my hands and the paint is supposed to stain the entire hand to be considered tt our hands are properly washed..

had lesson on diet held by Mary.. we're asked to taste the diet tt's given to the patients. i think it's quite sad cos i immediately 反胃 the moment i saw the food. and the drink tt's added with the thickener.. i think it's quite horrible for the plain water with the thickener.. and i wonder how Daniel could drink everything and say it's nice.. but i think the milo one is quite nice.. and the orange one smells nice too. haha. yau Qwee 精神 is out again...

oh and i had 幼面 for lunch.. quite nice leh. haha. and my fave　CHENG TENG！　好久没吃了！好开心．．　

04/10/06- Uniform Day

We had a Uniform day on Wednesday.. But seems that less than 10 people wore uniform..

this is my 4th time this year to win tickets from 933 le.. first was 俊扬校园音乐会@ Ngee Ann Poly, 2nd was a pair of Forbidden Siren movie tickets, 3rd was the 刚过不久的俊扬+林宇中 音乐会..

i was studying anatomy just now and was feeling v bored. so i turned on my hp radio and heard 佩芬 saying :" 现在就要送第一个奖品给听众朋友们，如果你是FIR迷，我们有这个星期六FIR的签唱会入场卷要送给你.." and i started picking up my phone and typing the instructions given by her and sent the message, only wanting to waste the 30 cents to distress for a while.. haha.

a few mins later my phone rang and to my surprise i saw a message from 72346. "Congrats! u've won a pair of tickets to FIR autograph session this sat.."
